On Oct. 3, the Sixth Annual Colorado Transportation Summit - the state's largest gathering of transportation professionals - brought officials, agencies and contractors together to discuss how to keep Colorado moving forward.

This year's theme aligned with CDOT's Whole System — Whole Safety campaign, with a focus on improving safety on and along our roads to reduce crashes and commute times, and to keep people healthy.

Communications Manager Sam Cole represented CDOT’s traffic safety campaigns in the “IN the Car” breakout session. This session focused on how drivers of all types face choices that can impact safety as the world changes. Cole’s presentation covered how CDOT’s traffic safety campaigns work to create behavior change to keep Colorado’s roads safe.

CDOT’s distracted driving simulator was on hand for attendees to try out. The event provided an up-close and personal look at high-tech vehicle simulators that can be used as educational tools for any age group. The simulators teach users that driving distraction-free is simple— use your phone later, focus on driving and drop the distraction.
