I-70 Floyd Hill to Chief Hosa Resurfacing

As of December 22, 2022, this project is on a winter shutdown. Work is expected to continue in late March or early April for approximately 6-8 weeks to complete the project. The anticipated work will require daytime single lane closures throughout the project zone. This webpage will be updated when lane closures resume.

About the Project:

On April 11, the Colorado Department of Transportation began the I-70 Floyd Hill to Chief Hosa Repaving project. Work on this project will improve driving conditions and safety along this 6.4-mile stretch of I-70 through asphalt repaving, guardrail replacement, culvert cleaning, signage, and
striping.

Work will begin with safety elements, including guardrail, throughout the entire project zone between mile point (MP) 246.5 to MP 252.9. The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2023 with a winter shutdown to begin in January 2023.

Work Schedule and Travel Impacts

  • UPDATE: Please note that all work has shifted to daytime hours instead of nighttime hours and is expected to remain that way throughout the remainder of the project. Eastbound closures will take place between 7am-3pm and westbound closures will take place between 10am-6pm.
  • Full overnight ramp closures during on- and off-ramp paving operations at the following exits:
    • Beaver Brook/Floyd Hill (Exit 248)
    • El Rancho (Exit 251)
    • Chief Hosa (Exit 253)
  • Grooved and rough pavement in sections of the project until paving operations are complete.
  • Speed limits will be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone.
  • Potential daytime shoulder work with minimal impact to motorists.
