US 24 Passing Lanes West of Peyton

Starting in early April and extending into fall 2020, CDOT and contractor partner, Kiewit Infrastructure Company, will construct passing lanes in both directions of US Highway 24 between McKenze Lane (Mile Point 327.1) and Bradshaw Road (MP 328.7). This project involves widening US 24 from two lanes to four lanes to provide approximately one mile of passing zone to improve safety. A left turn lane will be added on westbound US 24 at Bradshaw Road along with an acceleration lane for motorists heading westbound from Bradshaw Road. The contractor will also reconstruct driveway and intersecting roadway approaches, extend cross culverts, and improve roadside ditches. US 24 will be resurfaced with new asphalt pavement within the project limits.

CO 94 & Peyton Highway Intersection Improvements

Co 94 & Peyton Highway intersection east of Colorado Springs - CDOT will install safety improvements at the intersection of CO 94 & Peyton Highway in El Paso county. This project includes the addition of auxiliary left turn lanes on SH94, roadway shoulder expansions, and drainage improvements.

CO 145 Highway, Safety and Drainage Improvements, Telluride to Placerville

Highway, Safety and Drainage Improvements on CO 145, Telluride to Placerville The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Oldcastle SW Group, Inc., begin a project on April 27 to improve the surface, drainage and safety of 12.75 miles of CO Highway 145 between Telluride and Placerville. The work zone lies between mile point (MP) 71.51 (Society Turn in Telluride) and extends northwest to MP 84.24 (junction of CO 62 at Placerville). Nearly 13 miles of asphalt overlay along the full project length, including a thin layer applied for surface ‘leveling’ along the new passing lane project section (MP 73.9 to 75.1) completed in 2019.

Belleview Overlay: University to I-25

Belleview Avenue between I-25 and University Boulevard - This project involves involves milling and overlay of Belleview Ave between I-25 and University, as well as improving curb ramps to meet ADA requirements. Work on this project will improve driving conditions and safety along this 3-mile stretch of Belleview Avenue, including concrete milling and overlay, concrete sidewalk and curb ramp improvements, and roadway re-striping.

US 50 Montrose Chip Seal

Active Construction, US Highways, On US 50 east of Montrose Project description Work will consist of: ● chip seal application ● crack filling ● installation of new rumble strips ● new striping Crews will also remove the old epoxy striping and replace it with a temporary paint during construction. The chip seal does not adhere to the epoxy paint and to prevent future separation of the chip seal, the old epoxy is removed and temporary striping is placed.

Southwestern Colorado Chain Up Station Lighting

Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work on the installation of new lighting at seven chain up stations located throughout Region 5. One location will include a solar collection system to provide sustainable power for the lights. This project was contracted to Morton Electric for $917,000. This project is part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.” initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public. Adding lights at these chain stations will improve visibility for truck drivers and the traveling public when the chain law is in effect. CO 116 Two Buttes Resurfacing Project

This project will resurface the highway. Other work items include, replacing guardrail, replacing delineators, sign replacement and at CR33 culvert improvements. This project will benefit the public by improving the roadway for better safer driving conditions. Colorado Highways

I-25 Gallinas Bridge Rehabilitation

Gallinas Bridge, Interstates, Interstate 25 near Raton Pass from Mile Point 5.0 to MP 6.2 Project description Two-step rehabilitation of bridge structure P-18-BP. The first step entails pressure-injecting epoxy into cracks to shore up the surface structure. The second step consists of wrapping the longitudinal girders with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) for shear and flexure strengthening.

CO 59 Resurfacing from Seibert to Cope

CO 59 from Seibert to Cope - The project consists of overlaying the existing roadway with 2.5 inches of hot mix asphalt and in places patching degraded areas. In addition, various structures will receive rehabilitation work. This will include bridge railing, guardrail, signing, delineators, and striping. This will improve the roadway function and make it safer for traffic. Kit Carson, Washington Counties, Colorado Highway

CO 71 Resurfacing south of Limon

Colorado Highways, CDOT will begin a resurfacing project on a 37-mile stretch of CO 71, south of Limon, between mile points (MP) 63.8 to 100.83.
